VANESSA HAWKINS
The Euroa Agistment Centre is owned and run by Vanessa Hawkins who has spent her life around horses, working in many facets of the industry, competing as an eventer and developing the Equine Sports Breeding (ESB) program which has produced over four hundred horses including nine 5* horses and the sire of Irish Jester, silver medal winner at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
Vanessa was qualified as a Registered Nurse before studying the Associate Diploma of Horse Management at Glenormiston Agricultural College in 1986~87, graduating as Dux and winning several awards and a scholarship to study horses overseas.
She owned her own TB racehorse in the early days and prepared yearlings for sales which her family had bred. She worked with Peter Morgan at Craigielea Stud at Kilmore before moving on to Dorrington Park (now Sun Stud) at Monegetta to run the TB breeding program for Robert Crabtree.
Vanessa was a Director of the Australian Horse Industry Council 1994-97 and helped with the five year plan, as well as disease preparedness and biosecurity issues prior to working as the first Event Director of EQUITANA Asia Pacific 1997. She was also Vice President of the Victoria Horse Council.
